netSPEAR is a pneumococcal and Hib disease surveillance network - hosted by the KEMRI / Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Nairobi, Kenya and funded by GAVI's PneumoADIP - currently operating in thirteen hospitals throughout Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

The current gap between the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDFs) and the state of health indicators in East Africa warns of an impending public health failure and is evidence of the need for a stronger public health workforce. The Leadership Initiative for Public Health in East Africa (LIPHEA) is, therefore, strategically positioned to contribute to the process of building a competent and committed generation of public health professionals. The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of Makerere University School of Public Health (MUSPH) and Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) to not only provide effective public health leadership for Uganda and Tanzania, but also to catalyze the training of public health leaders in the whole region.

The East, Central and Southern African Health Community (ECSA-HC) is a regional inter-governmental health organization that fosters and promotes regional cooperation in health among member states. Member states of the ECSA Health Community include Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Seychelles, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The East Africa Medical Assistance Foundation requests the support of volunteer radiologists, donations of medical equipment, and financial support. Medical equipment and funds are needed to support the Kilimanjaro School of Radiology and Kilimanjaro Christian Medical School located in Moshi, Tanzania.
