Associations

The Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) was established as an association of Professional Engineers of Uganda in 1972, as a successor to the defunct East Africa Institution of Engineers (EAIE), which had started in 1945. The objects and purposes of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers are to promote the general advancement of the science and practice of engineering and its applications, and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on those subjects amongst the members of the Institution.

Uganda Sugar Cane Technologists’ Association (USCTA) is the body that coordinates the technical activities of the sugar industry in Uganda and acts on behalf of the Government of Uganda with her dealings with the International Sugar Organization (ISO). The administrative activities of the association are coordinated at its permanent secretariat in Kampala and these activities are handled by the Secretariat Manager.

The Uganda Flowers Exporters Association (UFEA), a non profit organization was established in 1993 as an umbrella organization bringing together growers and exporters of flowers in Uganda. UFEA provides business development services to its members and it is through the Association that efforts to influence government policies that affect the industry are lobbied and advocated for.

The Uganda Association of Consulting Engineers is an association that brings engineering consultants and consulting firms in Uganda under one umbrella. Through this association, members are able to interact and map out solutions to problems facing their industry, carry out joint research and to regulate their profession, which helps in keeping the quality of engineering work at its best. The biggest mission of UACE is to develop and promote the consulting industry in Uganda. UACE also helps member consultants to keep current in technology. The association works hand in hand with other technical and engineering bodies to improve the state and to promote the use of technology in the country.

The Uganda Association of Insurance Brokers (UAIB) is a body of insurance broking persons, firms, companies, corporations or cooperative societies carrying on business in Uganda. UAIB aims to protect and promote the interests of the insurance brokers.

PRAU is the umbrella public relations body of Uganda. It is affiliated with other regional and global public relations bodies such as the East African Public Relations Association (EAPRA), African Public Relations Association (APRA), the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and Global Alliance.

Private Sector Foundation Uganda: To strengthen private sector capacity for effective policy advocacy and market competitiveness. PSFU is Uganda’s Apex body for the private sector. It is made up of 144 business associations, corporate bodies and the major public sector agencies that support private sector growth. Since its founding in 1995, PSFU has served as a focal point for private sector advocacy as well as capacity building and continues to sustain a positive dialogue with Government on behalf of the private sector.

Association of Real Estate Agents - AREA - formed to professionalize the real estate agency/brokerage business in Uganda

The Association of Private Water Operators (APWO)s is an umbrella organization that brings together local private water companies/operators that are involved in provision of water supply and sanitation services in small towns and rural growth centers in Uganda.
